The Nepal Heritage Documentation Project (NHDP) at the Heidelberg Centre for Transcultural Studies (HCTS) is looking for a student research assistant (BA/MA/PhD - with or without degree).

Start until December 2023 (extension possible).

Student research assistant (f/m/d), 60h/month

Tasks:

Scanning historical research materials (photographs, slides, books, etc.)
Producing metadata of visual materials (photos, videos, etc.)
Research data organization
Translations of documents
Transcriptions of audio recordings
Proofreading of (short) English texts, etc.
Short report and news writing

Requirements:

Language skills: English (fluent), one of the South Asian languages (preferably Nepali or Hindi (good/basic) )
Some familiarity with Digital Humanities tools (optional)
Zotero
Interested in teamwork
Knowledge of diacritics (transcribing Devanagari scripts into Roman using diacritical marks) (optional but preferred)

Students pursuing a BA (second [last] semester) or MA in Classical or Modern Indology, or South Asian Studies, as well as Anthropology, Transcultural Studies or Heritage Studies will be particularly encouraged.

Remuneration is in accordance with the regulations of the University of Heidelberg for student assistants (summer term 2023).
