Purpose:

Inspects, trains other personnel and performs organizational, intermediate and depot level electronic maintenance/modification on contract units, subsystems and other weapon system components and U.S.

Army Communications-Electronics Command (CECOM) equipment. Supervises up to ten (10) communications technicians at a time. Advises other team members and solves unusual electronics problems by analysis and tests. Acts as a Special Technical Advisor to his Supervisor.

Requires considerable knowledge of integrated circuits; electronic principles and theory including solid state components as applied to control, function, and logic circuit; digital and analog circuits; functional use of complex electronic test equipment; electronic power, data processing and communications equipment; principles and methods of electronics systems maintenance and repair; and safety procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Applies advanced technical knowledge to solve unusually complex problems that typically cannot be solved solely be referencing manufacturers' manuals or similar documents including determining the location and density of circuitry, evaluating electromagnetic radiation, isolating malfunctions, and incorporating engineering changes.
  • Requires a detailed understanding of the interrelationships of circuits.
  • Exercises independent judgment in performing such tasks as making circuit analyses, calculation of wave forms, and tracing relationships in signal flow.
  • Uses common and complex test instruments such as digital multimeters, signal generators, semiconductor testers, curve tracers, oscilloscopes, high frequency pulse generators, frequency synthesizers, distortion analyzers, and complex computer control equipment.
  • Work may be reviewed by the Supervisor for general compliance with accepted practices.
  • Provides technical guidance to lower level technicians.
  • Maintains, repairs, and installs various types of electronic equipment and related devices such as electronic transmitting and receiving equipment (e.g., radar, radio, telecommunication, sonar, and navigational aids); micro and mainframe computers and terminals; and industrial measuring, controlling equipment, and industrial calibration devices.
  • Applies technical knowledge of electronics principles in determining malfunctions, and applies skill in restoring equipment operations.
  • Must be able to use test, measurement and diagnostic equipment to determine the cause and location of malfunctions, extent of faults and the level of maintenance required.
  • Perform all other positions related duties as assigned or requested.
  • Maintain a daily timesheet and daily manning report and ensuring times are accurate.

Qualification & Experience Requirements:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

  • Military experience preferred 25C, 25U, 94E or 94F. Need familiarity with installation and repair of CECOM systems.
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum of five (5) to ten (10) years actual and recent radio repair experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of technical publications related to military radios and electronics maintenance.
  • Clarity of written and oral expression desired.
  • Must be able to meet and maintain all base access security requirements.
  • Must be able to meet and maintain all Logistic Information System (LIS) access requirements (Common Access Card).

Specialized knowledge and skills:


  • Experienced in the using the Logistics Information Warehouse (LIW).
  • Familiarity with additional U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command (CECOM) equipment is a plus.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.

Additional Requirements:


1) LICENSE AND CERTIFICATIONS:


  • Valid driver's license is required.

2) PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


  • Stooping, sitting, kneeling, standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds by themselves51+ with the assistance of another person, touching dexterity (hand and finger), carrying, clear seeinggeneral, close vision, color perception, clear speech, driving vehicle, moving objects.
  • Ability to perform job duties efficiently and effectively up to a 48hour work week.
  • Must be able to endure long hours (overtime as required)
