New possibilities often go hand in hand with new risks. Increased networking of vehicle systems and rising exchange of big data means that the danger of cyber-attacks is growing. Protecting automotive IT from these threats is essential if innovative systems are to be brought safely onto the roads.

This is why we need experts who live and breathe IT security and who can use innovative software solutions to develop countermeasures from threat analysis through to developing and implementing a suitable security architecture.

Together with a team of specialists, you will be responsible for safeguarding future mobility.

Automated driving functions require a high level of cybersecurity while having a large attack surface due to technical complexity. We, as automotive security engineers, work passionately to protect our customers' wellbeing and cars from attackers.

We need your help to secure our automated driving functions against attacks, no matter if they come over the air or from attackers with physical access to the vehicle.

What awaits you?

  • You will solve challenging problems to shape the future of automotive security and make new BMW products even more secure.
  • This includes aligning these with stakeholders within BMW and with external partners (suppliers, regulators, standardization bodies, infrastructure provides etc.).
  • You will support and enable our SW developers to conduct threat modeling, fuzzing and implementing secure products.
  • You will maintain and enhance our CI toolchain and enable and support agile Software development teams to use this infrastructure.
What should you bring along?

  • University degree in engineering, computer science or a comparable field of study, ideally with a security focus.
  • Handson experience in security architecture and concepts.
  • Sound knowledge of ISO2143
  • Thorough understanding of security principles, latest techniques, and concepts (i.e. isolation/sandboxing).
  • Background with modern software development.
  • Experience with Python and Bazel as tools and with Continuous Integration and Delivery tools (Jenkins, Zuul) is a plus.
  • Understanding of basic principles of threat modeling and security system analysis (TARA). Practical experience is a plus.
  • Experience with OEMexternal working groups is an advantage.
  • Businessfluent English and German skills.
