About the Role:

Join our Global HR function - Rewards team as a German Pension and Benefits Lead. We're looking for an individual with extensive experience in benefits management and administration, ideally with specialized knowledge in pensions.

This role is critical in managing, administering, and reviewing pension and benefits programs in Germany, in alignment with our organization's strategic objectives.

This role reports directly into the Head Global Benefits and Recognition and will work hand in hand with the Rewards team.


Key Responsibilities:


Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage and oversee local pension provider regarding daily business/employee queries, payroll, and administration of retirees
  • Serve as a point of contact to the global Novartis Pension Board in respect of pension and retirement plan provision in Germany
  • Review and analyze local benefit programs and recommend changes in design, financing and vendors to ensure efficiency and compliance
  • Oversee financial controls and expenses of German benefit provision
  • Manage benefit program renewals, vendor changes and new program expansions
  • Oversee vendor management of benefits portal provider and remaining administration work carried out by the regional service center in Prague
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert on local benefits and support the country HR departments
  • Prepare periodical reports required for legislative bodies, external vendors, payroll etc.

Role Requirements

Essential Requirements:


  • University degree, preferable in actuarial, economics, mathematics or legal.
  • Fluency in German and English, both oral and written.
  • Extensive experience in management & administration of benefit plans.
  • Specialization in pensions or experience in Employee Benefits consulting.
  • Ability to understand, support, design and successfully deliver benefit related processes and projects.
  • Fair understanding of business, organizational and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in the benefit area and ability to maximize the effectiveness in HR services delivery.
  • Proven networking skills, with the ability to build internal and external networks to provide excellent support to HR requests.
  • Ready to work Hybrid (partially remote, flexible)
