Computer Science and Engineering,
research group Industrial Data Science (INDAS), is looking

to fill the following position as soon as possible and for a
period of three years:

Research Associate (M/F/d) in the research project "INDAS"

PhD position on the topic of sensor data analysis in the context of Industry 4.0
(Part-time 65% = 26 hours/week)

The Industrial Data Science (INDAS) research group performs interdisciplinary research with researchers
from mechanical engineering and computer science on practical issues in the field of Industry 4.0 using
primarily machine learning algorithms. We work very closely with partners from industry. The machine

learning methods include deep learning especially for time series. We work closely together with related
research groups that also analyse sensor data, such as Internet of Things and Human Activity Recognition.


Responsibilities:

Participation in an innovative research project in an interdisciplinary,
English-speaking team with attractive industry partners;
active independent research on machine learning processes for the analysis of
sensor data within the context of Industrie 4. 0;
collaboration in setting up a suitable software environment;
publications in German and English;
presentations at (inter-) national conferences;
teaching 2 semester hours per week;
supervision of internships and seminars as well as supervision of Bachelor and Master students;
through cooperative doctoral studies at the Universidad de Cádiz at the Departamento de Ingeniería In
- formática, Escuela Superior de Ingeniería (Spanish not required)
possibility of scientific exchange and stay in Cádiz.


Quallifications:

Completed scientific university studies (master's degree/university diploma)
in computer science or related fields;
knowledge of mathematics (engineering mathematics, statistics, numerics);
sound experience in at least one relevant programming language (e.g. C++, Python);
knowledge of machine learning is an advantage (PyTorch, Tensorflow, etc.);
conceptual and analytical skills as well as being goal-oriented;
ability to independently write scientific publications;
good knowledge of German and English;
confident appearance, ability to work independently and on one's own responsibility as well as willing
- ness to work and ability to work in a team;

The salary is defined according to the **German E13 TV Hessen scale.
