The Position:

We're seeking a seasoned scientist with a track record in human/animal genetics research, particularly in fibrotic diseases, cardio-renal-metabolic diseases, cancer immunology and oncology.

You will leverage your expertise in genetic and genomics data to drive breakthroughs in new therapeutic concepts, and your experience in analyzing multi-dimensional datasets will be invaluable.

Embedded in Boehringer Ingelheim's growing Global Computational Biology and Digital Sciences Unit (gCBDS), you are actively contributing to the discovery of breakthrough therapies that will increase human health.

Tasks & responsibilities:

In your new role, you will drive genomic led target and biomarker identification and patient stratification across Boehringer's disease areas using state of the art methodologies and largescale human genetic and genomic data.
Moreover, you will strive for accurate characterization of gene function in context of disease specific cell types and most suitable disease subtypes.
You will derive high quality therapeutic hypotheses through rigorous analyses and materialize results translation in collaboration with therapeutic areas.
You will lead, collaborate and communicate effectively internally with departments across functions and externally with academic and industrial partners.
In addition, you will work in a matrix environment both to support and to lead initiatives. You will also shape scientific and strategic priorities to accelerate portfolio advancement.

Additional tasks & responsibilities as Principal Scientist:

As Principal Scientist, you will deliver strong leadership in methodology and translational projects as a project lead or a use case owner in matrix teams.
As Champion in bringing new methodologies towards translation you will ensure an effective communication and stakeholder management.

Requirements:

Master's degree in Statistical Genetics, Bioinformatics, Genetic Epidemiology, Computational Biology, Statistics, Computer Science or related fields with several years of professional expertise
First postpostgraduate experience in a disease translation related setting in a pharma or biotech environment
Strong statistic genetics skills demonstrated in successful use cases in disease translation and a proven track record of excellence in delivering value through human genomics
Extensive experience in computing and programming with proven expertise in relevant programming languages
Demonstrated project management skills in leading cross functional projects and teams
A strong collaborator and presenter experienced in generating impact in a matrix environment

Additional requirements as Principal Scientist:

Several years of postpostgraduate experience in a disease translation related setting in a pharma or biotech environment
