PhD position (65%, TV-L E13)
The position is to be filled on 1 July 2023, or later. The contract duration is 3 years. An extension is planned.


We are looking for an early-career researcher (M/F/x) with a strong interest to contribute to the work of the project team aiming to empirically assess the Russian wheat export business in the context of recent market developments and global food security.

The analyzes will be based on Melitz's "New" New Trade Theory and focus on firm differences to explain trade relations and its determining factors.

Unique data on Russia's wheat export provides the opportunity to investigate Russia's international wheat trade relations.


We expect:


  • MSc. degree or equivalent in agricultural economics, economics or a related field;
  • Interest in international agricultural trade theory and food security;
  • Passion for econometrics and datarich analysis;
  • Expertise in econometrics and programming skills in R or readiness to develop these skills;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English; Russian language is a plus;
  • Openness to work in an international project team.
