Patients from all over the world rely on the expertise of our staff as well as on state-of-the-art diagnostics and treatment methods.

The Institute of Tropical Medicine and International Health is dedicated to patient care, research and teaching. Since 1999, the institute hosts the postgraduate, English-language Master's pogramme in International Health.

The Master's programme consists of the four parts:

the so called core course, the advanced studies period (advanced modules), the acquisition of relevant professional experience (if not already obtained prior to the studies) and a research project (thesis).

A part of the advanced modules can also be completed at the institutions of the tropEd network. Currently, ca. 170 international students from over 30 countries are enrolled in the program. The programme employs an academic coordinator, a research associate, three administrative positions and two student assistants. Adjoined to the programme are an alumni and a scholarship programme.

The Institute of International Health of Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin is looking for an academic associate to support the coordination of the Master's programme in International Health.


This includes the following tasks:
Academic counselling of international postgraduate Master students, especially during the thesis period
Supervision of Master theses
Communication with international supervisors of Master theses and faculty of the programme
Collaboration in the conceptualization and development of the Master's programme (optional)
Representation of the Master's programme nationally and internationally (optional)
, sentence 3 BerlHG provides for adequate time within the working hours for academic staff for their own further academic qualification

Danach suchen wir

MSc/PhD degree in an International Health related discipline
Professional experience in the health sector in low/middle income countries
Profound knowledge of International Health relevant qualitative and/or quantitative research methods and tools (e.g. STATA, R, NVIVO etc.)
Experience in International Health relevant qualitative and quantitative research
Experience as academic lecturer and supervisor of theses projects
Fluency in the English language
Very good scientific writing skills
Excellent communication skills
