Beschreibung

The Landbanking Group's (TLG) mission is to completely transform the way we use land in these unprecedented times of accelerating climate change, mass extinction and social divide.

A novel, globally active company was founded to turn landowners and land stewards into producers and sellers of ecosystem services and products.

TLG integrates diverse geospatial data sources and makes use of the latest machine learning models for earth observation (EO) data, carbon footprint and biodiversity analysis.

Combined with scalable ground-based assessments, e.g.

metagenomics, bioacoustics, we develop digital twins of land plots, assess ecosystem quality, verify proof of impact and tokenize the claims so that they can be traded or bundled into tradable assets.

TLG is now looking for an Ecologist (gn) with a strong quantitative focus and expertise in biodiversity monitoring, species distribution and habitat modelling to join our ambitious team and help to develop and feed a growing number of models that quantify ecosystem health and ecosystem services worldwide.

Your tasks:

  • Develop machine learning models on dynamic earth observation data for predicting habitat suitability for selected species or direct modelling of biodiversity indicators
  • Work closely with our earth observation specialists for predictor retrieval. Define data requirements from an ecological modelling perspective.
  • Task and oversee ground sampling activities through external providers, e.g. eDNA or bioacoustics sampling.
  • Cocreate our biodiversity assessment strategy across taxa and biomes
  • A postgraduate degree or >3y working experience in numerical ecology, biology, biogeography, geoecology or similar disciplines
  • Knowledge of SDM and habitat mapping approaches, e.g. Maxent, RandomForest
  • Experience working with EO and other geospatial data for biodiversity mapping
  • Advanced programming skills in Python or R
  • Reasonable overview over the phylogenetic tree of live, including taxonspecific sampling methods, e.g. invertebrates, birds, fungi
  • Overview over current topics in biodiversity conservation and policy
  • Familiarity with working in Linux environments
