Duties:


  • Takes basic vital signs and documents any pertinent information in patient health record.
  • Performs direct patient care and referral management activities.
  • Assist physicians with basic examinations and diagnostic procedures.
  • Instruct patients and/or family members in selfcare procedures in regard to various prescribed treatments.
  • Elevate lab results to physicians for review.
  • Assists with administrative and clerical tasks at health clinic when necessary.

  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
  • One year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • Applicants must comply with the Exceptional Family Member Program requirements as outlined in the DoD Instruction
  • ALL EMPLOYESS ASSIGNED TO A MTF ARE REQUIRED TO BE SCREENED FOR APPLICABLE IMMUNIZATIONS REGARDLESS OF SERIES, BASED ON OCCUPATIONAL RISK, AND ARE SUBJECT TO MISSING/REQUIRED IMMUNIZATIONS IAW AR 40562, CHAPTERS 3 &
  • Must possess and maintain current LPN licensure in a state, territory, or the District of Columbia.
  • Must obtain within 30 days of employment and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
  • This position is covered by the Civilian Drug Abuse Testing Program.
  • This position is designated "Mission Essential."
  • Incumbent may be required to perform call duties; work overtime to include weekends and federal holidays, out of cycle, or unscheduled training or on an emergency basis.
  • The work will require the incumbent to work evenings/nights, rotating shifts, extended hours or other schedules common to hospital operations.
  • Incumbent will have to pass a preemployment physical to meet Physical Efforts requirements.
  • This position may require an annual physical or medical surveillance examination.
  • This position requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • INCUMBENT WILL BE REQUIRED TO HAVE A HEP B IMMUNIZATION SERIES AS WELL AS AN IMMUNIZATION SCREENING AS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMEN
  • Position requires Business Travel/ TDY 5%.

Basic Requirement for a Practical Nurse:
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:


  • Experience required: One year of nursing experience in a hospital, outpatient clinic, nursing home, or other supervised medical, nursing, or patient care facility that provided a practical knowledge of human body structure and sterile techniques and procedures, performing such duties as measuring patient's vital signs, administering immunizations or medications via various routes, screening or updating patient medical records and performing routine procedures, such as electrocardiograms (EKGs), pulmonary function tests, wound care, audiograms and vision screenings.


This definition of nursing experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).


Education:

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.

For this grade level, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone - no substitution of education for experience is permitted.


Additional information:


  • Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
  • U.S. citizens overseas under ordinarily resident status are not eligible for appointment under the Status of Forces Agreement.
  • If an employee brings a child to an overseas location and that child is entitled to attend a DoD school on a spacerequired basis in accordance with DoDEA Regulation , the DoDEA and the Military Department responsible for providing related services will ensure that the child, if eligible for special education, receives a free appropriate public education, including related services pursuant to DoDI and DoDM
  • If an employee brings an infant or toddler (up to 3 years of age) to an overseas location, and that infant or toddler, but for the child's age, is entitled to attend the DoDEA on a spacerequired basis in accordance with DoDEA Regulation , then the Military Department responsible for EIS will provide the infant or toddler with the required EIS in accordance with the eligibility criteria consistent with DoDI and DoDM
  • Employees (and family members) who require medical or dental care in the overseas location will be responsible for obtaining and paying for such care. Access for civilian employees and their families to military medical and dental treatment facilities is on a spaceavailable and reimbursable basis only.
  • Pay retention may be offered to selected applicants for positions at overseas locations. Pay retention will not be offered as an incentive for employees moving between overseas positions
