  • Your contribution

    As the Manager Financial Governance EMEA (m/f/d) you will contribute to effective global financial governance with a focus on assisting EMEA to understand and meet its financial internal control and policy requirements including Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), ensuring conformance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) as well as all local statutory and regulatory accounting requirements for Clarios EMEA. In this position you will support a unified global financial governance team by conducting internal control process improvement projects, serving as a specialist on Clarios internal control requirements, conducting internal control assurance activity for Management, acting as a liaison between Clarios and our external and internal auditors and increasing financial governance standardization and effectiveness globally. The Manager Financial Governance will be based in our Clarios EMEA headquarters office in Hanover, Germany.

    Key Responsibilities: What you will do

  • Assists finance Managers in ensuring effective financial and operational internal controls are in place and operating as designed
  • Maintenance and management of the DOA Matrix
  • Ensure all countries within the area of responsibility meet the SOX requirements
  • Support the local management with the documentation of the key controls for all process matrices
  • Work with local management in the evaluation of the effectiveness of internal controls and support them in developing action plans to cover such identified gaps in a timely manner
  • Support local operations during other departments' projects and initiatives that impact the internal control and financial reporting environment (e.g., ERP changes etc).
  • Work with internal and external auditors for SOX purposes, internal and external audits, statutory and US GAAP audit engagements and limited reviews etc.
  • Review with the local Finance Managers' internal and external audit reports and assist local management in developing responses to these reports. Also support local operations in developing action for items noted in these internal and external audit reports. Follow-up on ensuring action plans developed are complied with in a timely manner
  • Perform periodic balance sheet reviews of operations within Europe. Follow-up to ensure remediation plans are completed timely
  • Ensure local entities are providing data in compliance with US GAAP and Clarios policies and procedures
  • Take a lead role in strategic projects as directed by the Director of Financial Governance and Director EMEA Finance and IT
  • Assist in the creation and adoption of new policies and procedures, including having an active role in the population and updating of documents in the Business Operating System (BOS).
  • Support the development of financial governance and policy communication and training strategies and delivery.
  • Support Senior Management in the preparation and timely submission of the quarterly SOX Management Representation Letters (MRL).
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: What we look for

  • University degree in Business, Finance or Accounting
  • Solid years of working experience within an American multinational corporation or at Big 4, including functional expertise with US GAAP, SOX, Audits and Business Controlling
  • Proven competency in working with IT systems related to financial functions and operational areas such as SAP, QAD, OneStream, Blackline, AMCO is a plus
  • Ability to demonstrate business acumen, understand business needs, developing action plans and putting those into action
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with various functions and levels in an international environment
  • Strong analytical and cross-cultural communication as well as project management skills
  • Effective in driving accountability and results
  • Excellent proficiency in working with Microsoft Office Package, Microsoft Teams and Outlook
  • Fluency in English language – both in written and spoken, German language skills are a plus
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% within EMEA
