The German Cancer Research Center is the largest biomedical research institution in Germany. With more than 3,000 employees, we operate an extensive scientific program in the field of cancer research.


The National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT) in Heidelberg is a joint institution of the German Cancer Research Center, Heidelberg University Hospital and Heidelberg Medical Faculty.

The NCT Heidelberg aims to link cancer research and patient care. Particular attention is paid to the establishment of innovative cancer therapies in the sense of patient-oriented, individualized cancer medicine.


The German Cancer Research Center is seeking a head of the new NCT cross-topic program "Digital Oncology" for the next possible date.


Job description:

Requirements:


  • Doctoral degree in medical informatics, computer science, data science, physics, mathematics or a related field
  • Experience in team leadership and tackling complex projects
  • Outstanding record of accomplishments with a strong focus on applied clinical system, data modeling, and research infrastructure
  • Excellent skills in software architecture along with profound knowledge on creating and maintaining distributed systems
  • Experience in the management and annotation of healthcare data and preferably in the creation and usage of ontologies
  • Experience in the development of distributed frameworks, especially in containerization and orchestration methods
  • Familiarity with the different data sharing initiatives in Germany is of advantage
  • Experience in working within large consortia
  • Excellent oral and written English and German skills
