George's School seeks an experienced professional to lead the Science department in our flourishing Secondary School to start in August 2023.


The School:

Having opened in September 2013, St. George's School Munich has rapidly developed into a thriving community of over 700 pupils and 100 teachers. The school continues to grow, and as the school matures we expect to reach 800 pupils.

The school's ethos of combining an enriching curriculum with family orientated care makes the school a warm and engaging place to work and learn.

The National Curriculum is taught throughout the school and we offer IGCSE qualifications to pupils in our Upper School. Students in the Sixth Form prepare the International Baccalaureate Diploma.

One of a group of three schools located across Germany, St. George's offers the successful applicant an exciting range of opportunities for professional development and growth across the school group.


The Location:

The school's new campus is located in the area of Schwabing-Freimann, to the north of the city centre. The site enjoys good access to the U6 metro line, as well as the A9 motorway.


Germany's third largest city, and the capital of the state of Bavaria, Munich is a dynamic and vibrant cultural centre, with a large and diverse international community.

Situated on the northern edge of the Alps, Munich offers a high standard of living, as well as numerous opportunities for travel and outdoor pursuits.


Munich airport is located 30km from the school, with many daily flights to the UK, and high speed rail services connect Munich to a wide range of European destinations.


The Role:

We are seeking to appoint an experienced professional to shape the further development of our Science department.

The successful applicant will be a dynamic teacher with previous leadership experience.

We are looking for the right balance between experience, enthusiasm and a passion for teaching and learning which will inspire students and colleagues.

Fluency in German and English and familiarity with the English National Curriculum are a prerequisite. A strong desire to contribute to the rich extra-curricular life of the department is also an advantage.


Given the growing and developing nature of the school, flexibility and the desire to support other team members is essential.

A strong desire to contribute to the rich pastoral and extra-curricular life of the school will also be an advantage.


The Science Department promote an enthusiasm for scientific learning and an awareness of the importance of science as part of life.

It delivers not only an academic understanding of science but also a functional approach. It equips students with the skills and qualifications that they will need to undertake further studies in this field.

All applicants should hold a valid teaching qualification. We consider a degree in education (e.g. B.Ed./M.Ed./Lehramt), or postgraduate teaching certificate (e.g. PGCE) as valid. English language teaching certificates (e.g. TEFL/IELTS/CELTA) are not sufficient.
