BIOINFORMATIC SCIENTIST (M/F/d) _- in Cancer Genomics _
- Full time
- Mainz_
Computational Medicine unit to start as soon as possible. The
We aim to detect tumor-specific transcripts and splice junctions that encode potential neoantigen targets by
analyzing large-scale RNA sequencing data (short and long reads) from tumor and healthy samples in internal
and publicly available resources. In close collaboration with experimental teams, the detection pipelines and
individual targets will be confirmed on the level of transcript and peptide abundance as well as
immunogenicity.
The Computational Medicine unit is an interdisciplinary team of dedicated and enthusiastic scientists, software
developers, PhD students, and graduate students from diverse backgrounds, including computer science,
molecular biology, bioinformatics, and mathematics. We strongly collaborates with other units in TRON and
with external partners to develop software, predictive models, and data analysis for innovative
immunotherapies against cancer and other diseases.
Your tasks and responsibilities:
Analyzing large-scale short
- and long-read RNA-sequencing data
transcriptomes and predict tumor-specificity
Development of reproducible detection pipelines and data-driven prediction models
Defining short-lists of promissing targets for experimental confirmation
Designing and discussing long-read sequencing and further confirmation experiments
Present your work in meetings and at conferences, write reports and publish manuscripts
What you bring:
A completed PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology or related field
Demonstrated proficiency in analyzing sequencing data of large-scale cancer cohorts
Experience with long-read sequencing data for transcriptome characterization
Expertise in developing reproducible data analysis workflows in a HPC linux environment
Excellent data visualization and communication skills
Experience with data from proteomics, ligandomics or immunogenicity screening experiments would be
advantageous
Enthusiasm and curiosity for the diverse activities of our research institute as well as the ability to work in a
team completes your profile.
