For our
Logistics Commercial Europe team, we are now looking for an
Account DIrector Automotive to be
based primarily in Germany (remote is possible).and reporting to the VP of Key Account Management Automotive Europe.


In this exciting role, you will focus on defining the account strategy for the assigned key customer on a global level and in alignment with the satisfaction of the customer.

They are responsible for meeting and exceeding all budgeted sales goals in accordance with the approved selling expense budgets.

Furthermore, the Account Director Automotive will commercially manage the existing book of business for their nominated accounts and ensure all renewals are successful, and be the counterpart for our Operations teams to challenge business situations and leading commercial discussions with our customers.


The Account Director Automotive is a crucial position within our growing DP World organization and partners closely with many high level internal stakeholders and our customers, both withing Logistics and Freight Forwarding.

They are key responsible to align customer requirements and expectations with DP World's capability globally as well as safeguarding a healthy book-of-business.

The Account Director will lead a time of Senior Account Managers and Operational Account Managers with whom the commercial activities in the assigned region will be coordinated.


Your Key Responsibilities:


  • Own the development of and continuously update the customer global account plan so that it is always fit for purpose as an account management tool, ensuring the integrity of the plan against customer needs to enable strategic planning via executive reviews;
  • Establish productive, professional relationships with key personnel within the customers global organization, propagating new relationships to bridge identified gaps in service or geographical areas;
  • Understand the customer's business (strategically, operationally, financially);
  • Understand the customer's buying process and identify all influences, intimately understanding their requirements;
  • Coordinate all growth initiatives specific to the global customer business, identifying and growing opportunities to the assigned targets for profitable sales volume and strategic objectives of the account;
  • Responsible for ensuring solution development, pricing & negotiation efforts that best address customer needs, coordinating the involvement of Regional Account Management, Center of Excellence and key internal stakeholders;
  • It is needed to support the product development for the customers. The automotive industry is in constant change and service providers have to react fast to develop and change its service program;
  • Coordinate and take the ownership for RFQs for new business opportunities and renewals of existing business with assigned accounts engaging other functions as required and own the commercial relationship and contract negotiations with customers;
  • Track key account metrics and alert internal stakeholders of any performance or cost to serve requirements, ensuring action plans are initiated and acted on to resolution;
  • Maintain an uptodate pipeline of current and future opportunities, quantifying number of opportunities, value of the opportunity and managing the probability to win;
  • Assist with high severity requests or issue escalations as needed;
  • Ability to read and interpret the P/L;
  • Coordinate the involvement of company personnel, including support, service, and management resources, in order to meet account performance objectives and customers' expectations;
  • Plan, schedule and facilitate Quarterly Business Reviews with assigned accounts and maintain an uptodate pipeline of current and future opportunities;
  • Mentor and support Regional Account Managers through development plans and coaching to ensure best practice and standard approach to account management globally is followed;
  • Act as an ambassador for DP World at all times when working; promoting and demonstrating positive behaviours in harmony with DP World's Principles, values and culture; ensuring the highest level of safety is applied in all activities; understanding and following DP World's Code of Conduct and Ethics policies.
