For our location in Hamburg we are looking for a highly engaged


Working Student (f/m/d) Mobile Robotics (UGV/UAS)
Drones and Mobile Robotics are a rising business within the coming years.

S mall autonomous vehicles, drones and rovers will transform industrial construction, environmental and infrastructure monitoring, city management, deliveries and so many more industries in ways that we have yet to imagine.


NXP Semiconductors has been highly engaged with industry partners, knowledge institutes and government entities on city as well as federal level to develop technologies that fits for autonomous vehicles.

We need you to support us in creating drone solution prototypes in hard and software. A bachelor thesis on drone/mobile robotics use cases is envisioned.


Your tasks:


  • Collaborate with NXP's CTO and business lines for all components used on mobile robotics
  • Collaborate with a small project consortiums in and around the city of Hamburg, a.o. with FH-Westküste, HAW and others
  • Development of ROS2 based navigation solutions under embedded Linux (Ubuntu)
  • Development of software solutions for drones and rovers using PX4 flight stack and NXP hardware components

Education and Requirements:


  • Student for Bachelor degree: Electronics, Mechatronics or comparable
  • Good software and hardware knowledge incl. tools (C, C++, Python)
  • Good knowledge on how to document software
  • Good knowledge of microcontroller programming for embedded systems
  • Good understanding of the operation system Linux / Yocto
  • Good understanding of ROS software stack
  • Basic understanding of security and privacy concepts
  • First experience with project management
  • Fluent in German and preferably English
  • High level of drive, reliability and team orientation

Working Time:18 hours/week during semester, up to 35 hours/week during semester breaks
