Fire Services Chief - Contingency

Plans, develops, and implements department policy. Directs and coordinates department operations. Reviews and develops departmental training. Manages departmental budget. Develops, maintains, and produces emergency operations plans for the department. Maintains contact with local community agencies. Plans and directs operations during training and emergencies. Plans, develops and implements an overall company long-term strategic plan involving fire protection. Formulates mission plans involving fire protection. Oversee the operation of all matters affecting your assigned site.

Ensure the department's vision of reducing and eliminating risk for the customer, contractors, firefighting personnel, and KBR is achieved at the highest level.

Provide effective leadership for all firefighting and administrative personnel necessary to carry out the duties and mission assigned.

Supervise the firefighters under your supervision for training requirements in order to maintain a high level of proficiency for mission accomplishment.

Ensure the development and administration of the Fire Prevention Program covering standards, code enforcement, documentation, and scheduling. Communicate effectively with customer, client, and contractors.

Fire Chief is responsible for ensuring adequate maintenance of all facilities and equipment. Respond to critical emergencies with the capability of supporting or assuming command. Monitor proper scheduling, manning requirements, vacations, time card, and firefighter duties. Review time sheets for accuracy and meet payroll suspense. Maintain a Personnel Information File on each firefighting personnel pertaining to counseling, evaluation, payroll issues, mission-related matters, etc. Develop and maintain a leave calendar ensuring proper retention of personnel to accomplish the mission. Ensure firefighters professionally conduct themselves and maintain a professional appearance IAW established standards. Assess the health and welfare of the personnel under your command.

Responsible for requesting additional information as required to accomplish your mission and share information you discover during the day with your chain of command.

Ensures all contract requirements are accomplished and takes appropriate corrective action as required to meet contractual requirements. Provide briefs as needed on mission readiness.


Must have, at a minimum, 15 years experience in fire and emergency services with at least 5 years as an Assistant, Battalion, or Deputy Chief.

Experience Have a vast Management, Operation, Prevention, and Training areas of fire protection. Practical experience conducting consequence management of emergency incidents while using the Integrated Command systems. Writes and/or approves reports and correspondence using Microsoft Word, Excel, Power-point, and Outlook software.

Must have current Department of Defense (DOD) Fire and Emergency Services Certification for Fire Chief;

  • Fire Officer IV,
  • Fire Inspector III,
  • Fire Instructor III,
  • HAZMAT Incident Commander
  • Airport Fire Fighters
  • ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800
  • Preferred:
  • Health and Safety Officer
  • Incident Safety Officer
  • Must be able to obtain a Secret clearance
