We are looking for a Director of Accounting (all genders) in our team in Berlin


As the Director of Accounting, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company's financial accounting and processes.

You will lead a team of dedicated professionals and work closely with management to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of our financial data and records.

This is a role that requires a strong technical expertise, and the ability to manage and mentor a team of people managers.


You will:


  • Lead and manage the daytoday operations of the accounting department, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions in compliance with local accounting standards and regulations.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and controls to enhance financial reporting accuracy and efficiency.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual (group) financial statements, providing insightful commentary and recommendations to senior management.
  • Manage the annual audit process, working closely with external auditors to ensure timely completion and resolution of any audit findings.
  • Oversee the management of accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate invoicing, payment processing, and collections.
  • Drive process improvements within the accounting function, leveraging automation and technology (software systems) to streamline workflows and increase efficiency.
  • Monitor and analyze key financial metrics, providing insights and recommendations to senior management for informed decisionmaking.
  • Stay up to date with accounting standards and regulations, ensuring compliance by implementing necessary adjustments to accounting policies and procedures.
  • Mentor, develop, and motivate the accounting team, fostering a highperformance culture and providing guidance on technical accounting matters.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations of the accounting team, providing constructive feedback and identifying development opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the CFO and other senior leaders to develop and execute financial strategies that align with the company's goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams, such as product development and sales & marketing, to support strategic initiatives, business decisions, and financial planning.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with financial institutions, auditors, tax advisors, regulatory bodies and other external partners.
  • Provide guidance and support during due diligence processes for potential mergers, acquisitions, or other business transactions.

You have:


  • Bachelor's or master's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Professional certifications such as CPA or ACCA are highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in accounting, including experience in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Indepth knowledge of German accounting principles (HGB) and familiarity with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Strong understanding of German tax regulations and experience in managing global tax compliance.
  • Proven experience in financial reporting, consolidation, and analysis.
  • Proficiency in using accounting software and ERP systems. Knowledge of Workday or similar platforms is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience within SaaS industry or comparable business model is a plus
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, including the ability to motivate and develop a team.
