THE ROLE


As part of our Wella R&D Organization you will work in the Analytical team in close collaboration with other functions, integrated in the innovation process for hair color as well as hair care or nail products.

You will lead the development of LC-MS/MS based analytical methods with the focus on the characterization of small molecules as oxidative hair dyes, reaction products and impurities.

You will generate scientific data and mechanistic insight, that is crucial for new product development, toxicological assessments, regulatory compliance and quality assurance of Wella products.


Your work will include:

  • Lead and execute analytical projects to enable new technology developments, toxicological assessments, quality control or regulatory compliance of Wella products and raw materials with the focus on dye chemistry.
  • Develop and validate methods for varying analytes and matrices and deliver highly accurate and precise measurements.
  • Collaborate closely within the Analytical team on projects, and assume responsibility for lab infrastructure, quality systems, and data processing.
  • Stay in touch with developments in measurement science, build external network and represent the company, for example through scientific publications.
  • Lead new capability development and implement new equipment, processes and methodologies.
  • Partner with external service providers.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • M.Sc. or PhD (preferred) in Organic Chemistry with excellent knowledge in analytical chemistry.
  • Familiar with instrumental analytics as liquid chromatography and the use of triple quadrupole mass spectrometry and sample preparation strategies for analysis of small molecules.
  • Profound handson expertise in using mass spectrometry for structure elucidation of new chemical entities and their degradation products.
  • Experience with HR-MS is a plus
  • Sound knowledge of method validation principles and statistical tools for analytical chemistry.
  • Scientific rigor and curiosity with a bias towards handson work in the lab.
  • Strong initiative, creativity, and organizational capabilities.
  • Enjoy working in a multifunctional team, based on mutual support
  • Ability to provide leadership in a multidisciplinary project team with excellent communication skills in the English language; German language skills are an advantage.
