The Hertie School in Berlin prepares exceptional students for leadership positions in government, business, and civil society.

The school offers master's programmes, executive education and doctoral programmes, distinguished by interdisciplinary and practice-oriented teaching, as well as outstanding research.

Its extensive international network positions it as an ambassador of good governance, characterised by public debate and engagement. The school was founded in 2003 by the Hertie Foundation, which remains its major funder. The Hertie School is accredited by the state and the German Science Council.

In cooperation with the "Institut für den öffentlichen Sektor e.

V.", a long-term partner of the Hertie School, the Centre for Digital Governance aims to conduct research and produce German language reports and policy papers on current topics of public sector digital transformation such as developing digital skills and competencies, collaboration with GovTechs/startups or the development of digital ecosystems.

We are looking for a


Research Associate for the Centre for Digital Governance (f/m/div)
in part-time hours/week).


Your tasks:
Various research tasks in collaboration with the KPMG Institut für den öffentlichen Sektor e

g:

  • Desk research on topics of government digitalisation and public management reform
  • Supporting smaller articles and policy briefs
  • Being the acting liaison officer for the Institute with regard to their quarterly Public Governance publication
  • Other joint activities in the area of public management reform/government digitalisation

Your profile:

  • A university degree (Master, Bachelor or equivalent) or advanced studies in (public) management, public administration, public policy or ICT with a clear interest in government digitalisation
  • Proven knowledge and expertise in the field of public management / public administration in Germany
  • Experience in conducting empirical research and statistical analysis with STATA or R
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with a proven track record in writing research reports
  • An excellent command of both German and English (the working language at the Hertie School is English)
