Ihre Aufgaben:


The SCC provides basic IT services for all KIT members for work in research and teaching, studies, and administration as well as federal services for universities in the state of Baden-Württemberg and for national and international projects.


The RG-FiNE group develops the high-performance sparse linear algebra framework Ginkgo, which is currently integrated into a variety of simulation frameworks such as MFEM, deal.

II, and openCARP.

We are partners in several large research projects such as the European MicroCARD project, the BMBF ExaSIM project aimed at accelerating OpenFOAM, and several projects under the US Exascale Computing Project.


The position is part of a large-scale project called WarmWorld with partners such as DKRZ, MPI-M and DWD to modernize the ICON code for climate research and numerical weather prediction (NWP).

This project aims at scalable performance and code development for the next generation of supercomputers.

The goals are to provide better scalability and performance portability so that ICON can run more efficiently on modern exascale computers, and to enable km-scale simulations.

At the same time, the code will be modularized to take advantage of new technologies, enable scalable code development, and make it more accessible to scientists.


You will:
- have the opportunity to work with renowned experts in the field of numerical weather prediction and climate research;

  • Be part of an agile and diverse team with expertise in modern, highperformance, and sustainable research software development;
  • Help enable portable climate simulations and numerical weather predictions on GPUs;
  • Investigating interfaces between library components in different programming languages.
  • Documentation of developed and implemented algorithms.

Ihre Qualifikation:


Job Requirements:

  • University degree (Master), ideally in the field of computer science and high performance computing
  • Sustainable software development (Git, CI, CB, unit testing, etc.) is a big plus.
  • A background in numerical weather prediction or climate simulations is desirable.
  • Good language skills in English.

Salary:

Salary category 13, depending on the fulfillment of professional and personal requirements.
