The Center for Advanced Systems Understanding (CASUS) is a German-Polish research center for data-intensive digital systems research.

We combine innovative methods from mathematics, theoretical systems research, simulations, data science, and computer science to provide solutions for a range of disciplines - materials science under ambient and extreme conditions, earth system research, systems biology, and autonomous vehicles.


CASUS was jointly founded in August 2019 by the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf, the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research, the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics, the Technical University of Dresden and the University of Wroclaw.

CASUS is located in the heart of Görlitz at the border between Germany and Poland.

The CASUS start-up phase is hosted by the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf and is financed by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the Saxon State Ministry of Science and Art.

CASUS is looking for a
Professional Support, ML-Ops Architect (f/m/d). The position will be available at the earliest possible date. The employment contract is limited to two years.


The Scope of Your Job:


Applicants (f/m/d) will work on the setup, development, maintenance and support of the software infrastructure for ML-Ops as well as the design, deployment, testing and support of ML-Ops workflows.


Applicants (f/m/d) will be part of the CASUS Professional Support Team and work in close collaboration with the HZDR Department of Information Services and Computing.


Your tasks:


  • Design, deploy, test and support ML-Ops workflows together with researchers and users
  • Support scientists and other users in using the ML-Ops platform for machine learning tasks and creating and maintaining ML-Ops workflows

Your profile:


  • Excellent Master degree or PhD degree in Computer Science, Data Science or equivalent
  • At least one year experience in Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence or Data Science
  • Experience in setting up, administrating and using ML-Ops related software infrastructure and workflows
  • Excellent communication skills in English and in a professional context (presentation of results at meetings, colloquial discussions, writing of manuscripts)
  • Preferably experience in at least one or more of the following areas:
  • DVC or similar data version control systems
  • Git, GitLab/GitHub
  • Test & Build Services
  • ML model deployment, versioning and registration
  • Data harmonization and data quality assessment
  • Testdriven ML model development and quality assurance
  • Continuous Integration and deployment
  • Relevant programming skills (Python, workflow languages, etc.)
  • Strong motivation to work in a collaborative environment
