Regulatory Science Data Governance Lead


This role (M/F/d) will be responsible for designing and executing a global data governance program for Regulatory Sciences, including collaborating with global and regional Regulatory Science teams, R&D partners, and the Crop Science data governance board to set goals, establish milestones, and create a timeline for implementation.

The Data Governance Lead (M/F/d) will also oversee cross-functional data stewards to ensure the successful implementation of the program and regularly assess and adjust to evolving needs.

Working closely with multiple departments, including IT, Regulatory Science, and Data Systems, the Data Governance Lead will ensure proper management and utilization of data assets as the Regulatory Science data strategy and digital transformation are implemented.


YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work closely with multiple departments, including R&D, Product Supply, DFS, Market Development, and IT, to identify gaps in existing data systems and prioritize data management initiatives and projects
  • Define, own and implement the data governance policies, procedures and standards across Regulatory Science to ensure data accuracy, completeness and reliability
  • Lead discussions across organization on topics like data governance, data quality, data wrangling, establish best practices, create processes and procedures along with access controls, monitoring adherence and oversee the resolution of data quality issues, drive improvements in data capture and quality through active partnerships with Regulatory Science functions and IT stakeholders
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to establish and maintain data definitions, classifications, and taxonomies
  • Ensure the proper documentation and stewardship of data assets, including metadata, data dictionaries, and lineage
  • Oversee master data management processes and ensure data consistency across the organization.
  • Embed data governance into the design of future solutions for all relevant areas in Regulatory Science, such as Velocity, CSW, datadriven planning, predictive risk assessment, smart and agile submissions, and automatic decisions
  • Serve as contact point for data related initiative owners on data governance aspects and provide guidance and direction, foster a culture of datadriven decisionmaking by educating and training stakeholders on data governance principles
  • Represent Regulatory Science in respective governance bodies in Bayer as well as external groups as necessary
  • Stay current on industry best practices and emerging technologies related to data governance.

WHO YOU ARE

  • University degree in science, engineering, IT or related discipline with several years of related experience
  • Several years of experience in data governance including data management, master data management and data standardization
  • Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, data quality principles, and data management processes
  • Demonstrated success developing and enacting complex strategies and initiatives to significantly drive R&D or IT impact and value creation
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and influencing skills
  • Experience working with stakeholders across multiple departments and levels of an organization
  • Proven track record of successfully leading, developing, and mentoring highly educated, skilled team members in a global environment
  • Strong crossculture sensitivity
  • Good team player (M/F/d)
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken
