Your role:

Come join our Operational Design Center, a capability within Global Development Operations, as Senior R&D Data Scientist Our vision is to bring innovative medicines to patients faster by optimizing clinical study design and operational planning to drive operational effectiveness and efficiency through informed, data-driven decision making.

As Senior R&D Data Scientist, you will facilitate the development, evolution and delivery of predictive and proscriptive analytic solutions, including an existing Bayesian causal inference model, to support study feasibility, operational planning and delivery of our portfolio.

Also, you will develop predictive models to forecast trial durations, patient recruitment, site and investigator performance, among other more sophisticated models.

Through close collaboration with stakeholders and cross-functional teams, the incumbent will ensure solutions are fit-for-purpose and deliver actionable insights that will guide strategic decision making and/or unlock operational optimization opportunities.

A bold, brave, and curious mindset will be advantageous.


Who you are:


  • Bachelors or Master's degree in computer science, bioinformatics, data science or related field
  • 3+ years of professional experience in data science and analytics, biopharmaceutical R&D setting preferred
  • Excellent understanding of the R&D processes from discovery to clinical development
  • Familiarity with clinical development in a biopharmaceutical R&D setting; experience in oncology, neurology, and immunology a plus
  • Solid data science and/or machine learning experience; demonstrated success with feature engineering, algorithm development, advanced analytics, predictive modeling; experience with statistics and/or product development a plus
  • Expertise in relevant software and programming languages (e.g., R, R Shiny, Python, Tableau) and/or cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS)
  • Strong team player, collaborator, and communicator; demonstrated success working with multidisciplinary and multicultural, geographically dispersed teams within a matrix organization
  • Extensive experience preparing and presenting complex ideas to nontechnical audiences; skilled at telling a story with data
  • Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills; solid organizational skills with high quality focus and results orientation Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of time
