Roles and Responsibilities:

You will lead MITRE's work for US European Command Operations Directorate (J3) providing operational mission engineering across areas such as Joint Electromagnetic Spectrum Operations (JEMSO), Information Operations (IO), Cyber Operations, and Nuclear Command and Control (NC2)


You will lead work shaping and strategic prioritization with EUCOM operations leadership, coordinate closely with MITRE support across other EUCOM directorates such as Intelligence, Communications, and Capability Integration, to continually ensure MITRE is working on the command's hardest challenges.

In addition, your team will partner closely with MITRE support to other sponsors in the Europe and Africa including US Army Europe and Africa (USAREUR-AF), US Naval Forces Europe (NAVEUR), US Air Forces Europe and Africa (USAFE-AFAF).


Strategic Leadership. Collaborate with USEUCOM J3 government sponsors and the MITRE Project Leader to define and guide strategic objectives and daily execution of support to USEUCOM J3. Ensure FFRDC appropriate impactful tasks are defined, and meaningful data driven products are developed in a timely and relevant manner. Actively collaborate with other projects supporting related sponsors to ensure maximum value and impact across MITRE's sponsors.


Domain / Technical competence.

Demonstrate strong familiarity and skill in one or more of the following areas:
(1) Information Operations / Operations in the Information Environment; (2) Cyber Operations; (3) Nuclear Command and Control; (4) Joint Electromagnetic Spectrum Operations (JEMSO); or (5) Kinetic / Non-Kinetic Fires Integration.


Interpersonal skills. Deliver strong leadership and develop a team that partners closely with both senior military leaders and action officers to identify operational and engineering challenges, potential solutions, and communicate project goals and impacts clearly and effectively.


Senior Sponsor Experience. Comfortably and respectfully engage with both US and foreign nations' senior military leaders and engineers as well as commercial executives and managers.


Flexibility. Be able to modify and alter course as the environment and sponsor priorities shift. Understand the power of reach-back and be an effective conduit to bring the talent forward to execute at the right time.


Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, such as Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Manufacturing, Computer), Physics, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Analysis, or related fields; or BA in International Relations, International Security, Management, or similar fields and 8 years of related experience; or 6 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years' experience.
  • Have a current US Department of Defense Top Secret Security Clearance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Department of Defense Top Secret / SCI security clearance.
  • Five years of professional experience
  • Effective and influential oral communications skills
  • Strong written communications skills

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Master's degree in related field
  • Five years' experience in military Joint Command and Control
  • Familiarity with Department of Defense military missions
  • Demonstrated Joint Command and Control domain experience
  • Functional domain background in C2 (Operational/Tactical) systems, processes, and functions as related to mission execution.
  • Working knowledge of Modeling/Simulation tools and concepts
  • Flexible, selfstarter, "comfortable in discomfort"
  • Proficiency in system interoperability and integration
  • Proven capability for strategic planning and ability to provide actionable plans to government sponsors.
  • Additional clearances: NATO SECRET
  • Active Top Secret/SCI Clearance.
