The Hertie School in Berlin prepares exceptional students for leadership positions in government, business, and civil society.

The school offers master's programmes, executive education and doctoral programmes, distinguished by interdisciplinary and practice-oriented teaching, as well as outstanding research.

Its extensive international network positions it as an ambassador of good governance, characterised by public debate and engagement. The school was founded in 2003 by the Hertie Foundation, which remains its major funder. The Hertie School is accredited by the state and the German Science Council.

The Curricular Affairs department is looking for a


Student Assistant (20 h/week)


to support multiple data-driven tasks related to course planning and course information management, communication with instructors and students, and other administrative tasks.

The unit plans, manages, and evaluates all credit-bearing activities for the four Master's degrees offered by the Hertie School.


Your tasks:

  • Support with course management, course enrolment, and course planning for the Master of Public Policy, the Master of International Affairs, and the Master of Data Science for Public Policy.
  • Compilation, management, and analysis of course data.
  • Support of Skills Workshops, including student support, catering order management, and enrolment management.
  • Communication with students and instructors on course matters.
  • Drafting and editing of information materials for students and instructors.
  • General administration of courses via the campus management system.
  • Other administrative support activities within the Curricular Affairs unit.

Your profile:

  • To hold a Bachelor's degree and be enrolled as a Master's student at a German university.
  • Attention to detail and an interest in the design and implementation of quality control mechanisms.
  • A problemsolving mindset and an interest in continuously learning new skills and methods.
  • Strong data management and analysis skills, especially in MS Excel.
  • Very good communication skills in English, both oral and written. Strong German skills are a plus.
  • Good interpersonal skills and high intercultural competence.
  • Team spirit and an interest in contributing to the development of a highly diverse and international team.
