The Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law is looking for a


Senior Research Fellow (Postdoc)

for the Max Planck Research Group MAGGI:

"The Multiplication of Authorities in Global Governance Institutions"
**headed by PD Dr. Janne Mende
**The Research Group focuses on the authority of state, intergovernmental and non-state actors in

global governance institutions:
Which actors (states, companies, NGOs, IO organs, national human
rights institutes, cities, unions etc.) have what form of governance authority (i.e. power and
legitimacy) and how can their authority be democratically embedded?


Tasks
projects in the Research Group and that contributes to building a conceptual pattern of governance
empirical research, contribute to joint projects, events, and the dissemination of research output.
The position entails no teaching requirements.


Profile
Master's degree and a completed PhD in political sciences or a related field. Applications from the
field of International Relations or EU studies are particularly welcome. Experience with publications.
Outstanding analytical and writing skills. High motivation for academic work. Excellent command of
English (German is an asset).


We offer
The position starts in May 2023 on a full-time basis (39h/week) and ends in December 2025. The
salary and social benefits are determined in accordance with salary group 14 of the German public
that forms part of the vibrant international research community at one of Europe's most renowned
public law institutes.
