Duties:

The Protocol Assistant provides expert advice to the U.S. Consul General (CG) to Northern Germany and other U.S.

government officials on protocol issues and related matters in planning, developing, and carrying out official events at the Consulate, the CG's residence, and other locations.

They regularly liaise with officials from the five German states of Hamburg, Bremen, Lower Saxony, Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Lower Pomerania, as well as other diplomatic missions, international businesses, and the local community.

They perform secretarial and administrative support duties for the CG and deputy CG and coordinate with other sections and agencies within U.S.

Mission Germany.


Qualifications and Evaluations:


  • Requirements:

EXPERIENCE:
Three years' experience in office administration, management, or as a personal assistant is required.

  • Education Requirements:
Two years of post-secondary education (or completion of other equivalent post secondary education program or degree e.g. vocational education, associate degree, college/university studies) is required.

  • Evaluations:

LANGUAGE:
English fluent speaking/reading/writing is required, may include the ability to translate (this may be tested).

German fluent speaking/reading/writing is required, may include the ability to translate (this may be tested).

  • Ability to draft correspondence in German and English is required (this may be tested).

HIRING PREFERENCE ORDER:
