A Snapshot of Your Day

As Head of an IP Counsels Team, you will lead a team of IP Counsels and IP Specialists in various locations.

Jointly with Business Area IP Counsels, you will collaboratively ensure smooth operations and implement IP handling processes, methods, and efficiency or improvement measures of the Siemens Energy IP department.

You will take care of the personnel, resource, and knowledge management, especially developing concepts and implementing measures to facilitate upskilling, training, and development of IP Counsels and IP Specialists in your team.

How You'll Make an Impact

Leads a team of IP Counsels and IP Specialists in various countries/locations and is responsible for personnel, resource & workforce management (resource pooling and workload handling, leveraging synergies of competencies, improving work products quality, enhancing collaboration, etc.) including setting objectives, evaluating performance, providing professional development opportunities (jointly with the respective Business Area IP Counsels)
Works collaboratively with Business Area IP Counsels to identify potential IP assets and to strategize on their protection
Provides legal advice and guidance on IP matters to senior management and other departments
Acts as strong ambassador of the Siemens Energy IP department, role model and IP entrepreneur who strikes the balance between governance and business as well as drives coordination with stakeholders
Contributes to business goals by ensuring smooth operations, developing and implementing IP handling processes, methods and efficiency/improvement measures of the Siemens Energy IP department and ensures meeting IP budget requirements
Stays updated on current laws, regulations, and industry practices related to intellectual property and takes care of knowledge management for IP Counsels and IP Specialists, prepares a training concept jointly with other IP team leads and aligns the same with the Head of IP as well as implements measures to facilitate upskilling, training, and development of IP Counsels and IP Specialists
Develops a longterm strategic workforce planning in line with business and IP strategy (especially in respect of required skillset and future professional background) jointly with other IP team leads, and aligns the same with the Head of IP and drives its implementation

What You Bring

Fully qualified patent attorney such as European Patent attorney, German Patentassessor qualification from DPMA, US patent bar passed successfully (incl. J.D. law degree and law license for at least one state bar)
Scientific or technical university degree (e.g., engineering, physics, energy related science or informatics/computer science), as well as excellent leadership skills with capability to manage a team (referencebased)
At least 7 years of professional experience where you have held different IP prosecution and litigation positions within Siemens Energy, an equivalent position in international IP law firms or IP/legal departments of other multinational companies
Advanced legal expertise in European (especially German) or US jurisdictions with a profound experience in national, supranational and international IP laws (e.g., patent, copyright, trademark laws and related fields)
Experience in development and implementation of IP strategies, IP licensing/transaction, prosecution and litigation, legal opinions, freedomtooperate analysis, patents, trademarks, software copyrights and complimenting strong negotiation and drafting experience
High level of proficiency in verbal and written English. German and other languages are a plus.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills coupled with intercultural sensitivity and supporting the ability to explain and to solve complex technical, IP and legal matters
Businessminded, resultoriented, and selfmotivated team player with a handson mentality who is able to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment as well as proficiency in using IP management and docketing software
