Duties:


  • Serves as Network Manager within the Network Enterprise Center, Network Infrastructure Division.
  • Is responsible for Local Area Network management, technical operation, analysis, installation, and repair.
  • Oversees implementation and modification of the NIPRNet/SIPRNet architecture.
  • Develops Local LAN/ICAN operating procedures and policies.
  • Provides recommendations for Cable Distribution Systems (CDS) upgrades to the current infrastructure and oversees CDS implementation in accordance with customer project guidelines.
  • Analyzes networking equipment and software, copper, and fiber optic cables reliability and utilization reports for large, complex equipment and software systems to identify and correct problem areas.
  • Prepares testing and implementation plans.

  • Three year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain SECRET.
  • The IT classification for this position is IT I. Position is designated as Special Sensitive.
  • Must successfully pass urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter to AR 60085, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program.
  • This position requires the employee to occasionally travel from the normal duty station. 10%
  • Position Requires the Ability to lift 35 lbs.
  • The work requires physical exertion and is normally performed in office and Telecommunication Room (TR) environments involving light risk.
  • Obtain and maintain a TMP drivers license.
  • This position requires the completion of a preemployment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • Position may be designated "Mission Essential".
  • In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or manmade disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • Incumbent (or Selectee) appointed to IA\IT positions must complete all DoD M,
  • Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program training and certification (baseline and computing environment (CE)) requirements within 6 months.
  • Sustainment training is required as needed to keep the IA\IT professional proficient in their job duties.
  • All individuals performing technical functions are required to sign a Privileged-Level Access Agreement (PAA) and Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA).

  • Current DoD Employees: If a current permanent CES employee, you shall be granted administrative return rights. If not a current permanent CES employee, you may be granted administrative return rights if agreed to by your CONUS organization.
  • In accordance with DoD CES Personnel System Implementation Guidance for Overseas Rotations and Administrative Return Rights, employees must be able to satisfy the rotation requirement and tour limitations in DoD Instruction Volume 1230.

This position is in the Professional Work Category at the Full Performance Level within the CES Occupational Structure.

  • To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe one year of specialized experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience would be demonstrated by
    (1) providing guidance to modify the NIPRNet/SIPRNet architecture;
    (2) recommending methods and/or procedures to optimize networking systems and network upgrades;
    (3) analyzing network equipment and software to identify and correct problems;
    (4) and preparing network testing plans and suggests resolutions to network problems.
  • The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined:
