What you will be doing here:

At MAGNOTHERM we are developing a revolutionary refrigeration technology that has the potential to eliminate 40% of the energy demand and 100% of the direct greenhouse gas emissions in this sector.

Our vision is to provide the cleanest cooling solutions for everyone to reduce climate impact and energy costs. Founded in 2019, our start-up is a spin-off of the Technical University of Darmstadt.

We have built up a great team with excellent expertise in various fields and are now looking for an additional helping hand.

Sounds interesting?

  • You will be responsible for your own projects and take part in developing the next generation magnetocaloric cooling systems.
  • You will work closely with our engineers in designing new cooling systems and bringing together magnets, magnetocaloric materials, electronics, hydraulics, mechanics and everything in between.
  • You will support us in building prototypes and manufacturing new components.
  • You will equip our prototypes with various sensors, run measurements and collect data.
  • You will analyze and compare data in order to improve the operation of our systems.

what you would ideally bring to the table:

  • Drive to create new technologies, an infinite amount of curiosity and a first principle thinking mindset.
  • You keep an eye on the bigger picture and are focused on getting a product out there.
  • You are studying to become an engineer or have experience in a related field.
  • You are fascinated by ever discipline of engineering instead of specializing in one field.
  • You prefer grabbing your tools to solve problems and work handson to get things done instead of talking for days about the theory.
  • You have some experience with building prototypes, 3D printing, machining parts, implementing circuits with Arduinos on a breadboard as well as researching and testing components.
  • Experience in working with Python to analyze data, writing basic code in C++, designing parts with CAD software or boards with PCB design software, using CAM tools and 3D printing slicers.
  • You can structure and prioritize your tasks independently, but also bring your own ideas into the team and adapt quickly to changes.
  • German and/or English is easy for you and you like to discuss new ideas.
The ideal things you bring to the table are nice to have. We value drive and curiosity over experience or grades.

If you don't match every requirement, but are willing to learn and to go the extra mile to bring magnetocaloric cooling technology to the world: Don't wait Join us

What you will get from the job:

  • Freedom to bring your ideas to life and gain experience.
  • To use every tool we have and learn how to prototype. If you need a tool we don't have, we will get it
  • This is the chance for you to take responsibility and grow as a person in an environment, where mistakes are embraced to innovate faster.
  • You will be part of an extraordinary team of bright minds working on the forefront of climate tech.
  • Be part of a company with a flat hierarchy and quick decisionmaking for rapid development and fast improvement.
  • A fair salary and your daily dose of memes

About us:

We believe in science; we believe in the facts. Climate change is speeding up more than ever and we need to do something about it.

We are convinced that we need better technologies to overcome this tremendous challenge - or more precisely: this tremendous threat to humanity.

We are on a mission to decarbonize the refrigeration industry and reduce the 10% overall emissions caused by the 5 billion cooling devices currently deployed.

We have built up a great technical team with excellent expertise in various fields. To make this happen, we are looking for you to help us make our vision a reality - join us

We are material scientists, chemists, physicists, a lot of engineers as well as product and graphic designers. We are a young and up-and-coming team of bright minds with diverse and international backgrounds. We love hanging out together, we argue about new technologies, politics, the best sport, and food trends. Basically, we are human.
