Come create the technology that helps the world act together
Nokia is committed to innovation and technology leadership across mobile, fixed and cloud networks.

Your career here will have a positive impact on people's lives and will help us build the capabilities needed for a more productive, sustainable, and inclusive world.

We challenge ourselves to create an inclusive way of working where we are open to new ideas, empowered to take risks and fearless to bring our authentic selves to work.

The team you'll be part of belongs to Bell Labs Core Research (BLCR) within Strategy and Technology, located in Stuttgart, Germany.

In the BLCR Radio Systems Research lab, the associated workshop is looking for an R&D engineer to strengthen the team in the field of mechatronics or equivalent.

The focus of the Radio Systems Research lab are projects that aim at pushing the performance, cost and energy efficiency of integrated radio components, transceiver circuits and digital signal processing for multi-antenna wireless systems.

The workshop supports the implementation of novel transceiver concepts and drives the realization of world-leading prototypes not only in the area of wireless communication but also for optical communications as part of our collaboration with the optics lab.

Strategy and Technology lays the path for Nokia's future technology innovation and identifies the most promising areas for Nokia to create new value.

We set the company's strategy and technology vision, offer an unparalleled research foundation for innovation, and provide critical support infrastructure for Nokia.

What you will learn and contribute to:

As part of our team, you will be involved in research projects focusing on the optimization and realization of novel integrated radio components, transceiver circuits and digital signal processing for wireless systems.

Together in close cooperation with our research teams, you will design and realize advanced hardware demonstrators and prototypes for future communication systems.

Your main mission will be the design support and realization of transceiver components, and their integration into ground-breaking proof-of-concept systems to demonstrate the feasibility and performance.

It is expected that you will bring strong hands-on-experience in various domains to a cross-disciplinary team.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Supporting the researchers with the design of new hardware components, as well as assisting series of measurements,
  • Technical implementation of prototypes and of proofofconcept systems, particularly for new radio technologies and components,
  • Realization of (lab) demonstrators for show events and customer meetings.

Your skills and experience:

  • Completed vocational training as a mechatronics engineer or technician specialized in mechatronics or equivalent,
  • Experience in production of precision mechanics using CNC machines and conventional mechanics (milling, bending, turning),
  • Handsonexperience in design and production of prototypes,
  • Good verbal and written skills in German and English, particularly for technical documentation of the prototypes and demonstrators,
  • Highly engaged and handson personality, versatile and a selfstarter, acting as an integrator, and being able to think outofthebox,
  • Open for acquiring new fields of expertise,
  • Able to collaborate both with the immediate team as well as others in the larger Bell Labs community as need arises,
  • Solid MS Office skills.

It would be nice if you also had:

  • Experience in using CAD / CAM tools and layout of electronic circuits
  • Experience in dealing with optical and electronic components
  • Experience in (fiber) splicing, chips bonding, 3D printing, laser cutting
  • Experience in the fabrication of printed circuit boards
