APX is Europe's leading very-early-stage VC. We are looking for a portfolio finance intern, starting in early January 2023.
Based in Berlin and backed by Axel Springer and Porsche, we invest in the most ambitious pre-seed startups from Europe and beyond - often as their first investor.
We're a small, diverse team coming from different places with a shared passion for helping startups become successful and have a positive impact.
We make sure our financial processes are running correctly and smoothly and that our limited partners are well informed about our operations.
You will work alongside the investment team and venture development team to track performance and run analysis on our 170+ portfolio startups across Europe.
Working with us, you will learn all about portfolio management and financial operations in a VC fund. Additionally, you get the chance to work at a hotspot of the Berlin startup ecosystem.This is a 3-month full-time paid internship with the possibility to extend it to 6 months.
Tasks
As a portfolio finance intern, you will report to the Head of Finance. Your main focus will be financial reporting and portfolio analysis. You will work alongside the investment team and get insights into our investment processes and decisions. Additionally, you'll be part of building new systems and processes as we prepare to launch our new fund.
Your tasks include:
- Update the monthly financial reporting of APX and the new fund including forecast and cash flow
- Manage our portfolio's transaction database and model the cap tables for
- Compile portfolio evaluation and ad hoc analysis for our internal business
- Support the implementation of governance and reporting processes of our new fund
- Support the automation process of recurring workflows including improving the quality of APX internal data
- Support the APX finance team with invoice and expense related tasks
Requirements:
We are looking for a smart, detail-oriented and passionate person who wants to become an integral part of our team.
Your profile looks like:
- Bachelor or Master student (finance, accounting, mathematics or similar) with at least one more year left to study
- Entrepreneurial spirit and proactive "cando" attitude
- Attention to detail and structured working style in a very dynamic environment
- Selfreflectiveness and ability to continuously challenge and improve processes
- First practical experience in finance or accounting related job or internship
- Proficiency in MS and Google Suite, especially Excel and Google Sheets
- English fluency is required and German fluency is preferred
We require that you are based in Germany with the possibility to travel to our Berlin office when necessary and to work remotely from Germany when it is more suitable for your schedule.
For this reason, eligibility to work in Germany is required. We're not able to sponsor a work visa for the role.
