In order to support the Aeromechanics & Performance department, Airbus Helicopters is looking for a

Internship on Aerodynamics within Investigation of complete helicopter CFD/CSM coupling tool chains (d/f/m):
The position is offered in the Aeromechanics & Performance department of Airbus Helicopters' Design office.

You will be integrated in a transnational team of 60 engineers in charge of scientific analysis and design within the flight physics domain.

It deals in particular with Aerodynamics, Aerothermal, Flight Mechanics, Performance and training and simulation with pilot in the loop activities.

Your location:

At our Donauwörth site, located on the banks of the river Danube, we develop helicopters from the initial idea to the airworthy product.

Watch them take off and touch down on our own on-site test airfield.

Your tasks and responsibilities:

Detailed familiarization with the industrial coupling toolchain FLOWer
CAMRAD II
Setup and execution of coupled complete helicopter simulations
Porting of the simulation setup to and testing of coupling with alternative CFD and/or comprehensive helicopter simulation software
Postprocessing of the numerical results and comparison between the different tool chains
Presentation and documentation of results and activities

Desired skills and qualifications:

You are an enrolled fulltime student (d/f/m) with 35 years of academic studies in the field of Aerospace Engineering (or comparable)
Knowledge of flight mechanics, aerodynamics and numerical simulation
Experience with postprocessing software, preferably Tecplot
Basic skills in Linux and scripting
Minimum English level: intermediate
German would be appreciated
You are a good team player, have excellent communication skills, and are able to work independently
