We're seeking someone to join our team as a International Tax Utility Frankfurt Director (AVP-equivalent) to Operations division.


We partner with business units across the Firm to support financial transactions, devise and implement effective controls and develop client relationships, driving strategic automation solutions by embracing a transformation mindset and challenging the status quo.


This is a Director position within Operational Core Services, which is responsible for performing and managing product-agnostic and centralized operational services across several businesses and products.

What will you be doing?

  • Monitor and review tax policy/ regulation changes that affect tax processing and communicate the operational tax implications to various key stakeholders
  • Work with the Corporate Tax Department and external tax advisors to interpret the legislation, provide steer on operational implementation and partner with various Operations teams and Business areas on actual implementation
  • Create and document operational tax requirements, processes, policies and procedures for Operations to correctly set up systems to ensure tax compliance
  • Attend and represent MS at industry forums where legislation and practical difficulties are being discussed
  • Work effectively across geographical and functional boundaries demonstrating strong relationship skills.
  • Support of operational functions within the Tax operations space, including but not limited to withholding tax, tax reclaim and documentation, transactional taxes, audit, and reconciliations.
  • Timely submission of tax documentation to custodians/tax authorities, supervision of monthly, quarterly and annual regulatory reporting through the RRM tool.
  • Support of the risk framework, analysing Key Risk Indicators and impact of regulatory market updates.
  • Control of client tax offerings and liaising with the relevant BU to ensure compliance.
  • Supporting the ITO Enhancement strategy to improve systemic tax processing.
  • Control of processes outsourced to external vendor.

What you'll bring in the role:

  • Ability to lead by example, work with drive and determination, and put forward challenging views to senior levels
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of functional area and operational/compliance policies and procedures of their team
  • Ability to operate independently across the majority of daytoday responsibilities
  • Culture carrier across Operations, embracing the Firm's core values and acting as a role model
  • Provide cross Operational and Business Unit tax support regarding operational taxes hence knowledge of the banking sector and ideally experience of working in an operational tax environment or supporting operational taxes from a tax technical perspective.
  • Good business and product knowledge of banking across divisions such as Institutional Equities, Prime Brokerage, Financing, Fixed Income and Derivatives
  • Good knowledge of Transaction Taxes, Withholding Tax or Capital Gains Tax regimes and how they impact operational processing and infrastructure
  • Detailed tax technical knowledge of German withholding tax would be an advantage
