Master thesis graduate (M/F/d) for a research project on the topic: "Enhancement of mechanical model for braided metallic flexible hoses"

ArianeGroup is a global space industry leader.

The company is now preparing for the next generation of launch vehicles, so we are always looking for young (future) engineers (M/F/d) with new ideas and technologies.

The section "Upper Stages Structure Mechanics" (JTMU4) focuses on the mechanical dimensioning of launcher vehicle upper stages and space vehicles.

The activities comprise structural sizing and verification, static and analyses and tests, fracture mechanics and mechanical system engineering. In this department, a graduate internship is offered to M.Sc. students (M/F/d) in the area of mechanical / aerospace engineering or materials science.


Assignement:

Time frame:

  • Start: flexible)
  • Duration: 6 months (to be discussed)

Your tasks:

  • Review available test data of flexible hose mechanical tests
  • Simulate exemplary tests using mechanical models with different modelling details (1D / 2D / 3D)
  • Refine mechanical model characterisation regarding, stiffness, vibration, and fatigue
  • Develop design and verification guidelines complementary to the industrial aeronautical standards (e.g. ISO Document the results

You have the following skills and qualifications:

  • Master's program in engineering or similar
  • Knowledge of design and calculation of (aerospace) structures
  • Knowledge of numerical simulation with FEM/FEA tools beneficial (e.g., Patran/Nastran, ABAQUS or comparable)
  • Autonomous way of working, strong motivation and interest in space engineering, as well good team-working and communication skills
  • English is mandatory (German is an advantage)
