The Leibniz Institute for Psychology (ZPID) in Trier (Germany) is an internationally renowned research support organization
in psychology and a member of the prestigious Leibniz Association. As part of an effort to strengthen its research
capacity, ZPID will newly establish the following position in close cooperation with the Trier University:

Junior professorship (W1-equivalent) Big Data in Psychology with research

focus (with tenure-track to W2 LBesG-equivalent) (f/m/d)
The professorship will be filled in a joint appointment procedure between ZPID and the Trier University, based on - 50
Abs. 11 HochSchG. No civil service or employment relationship is established with the Trier University.

Preferred start date is July 1, 2024


Duties and functions:

Conducting research using advancing methodologies and theories on "Big Data in Psychology" including but not

limited to the following topics:
Methodological and statistical issues in collecting, handling, processing, and analyzing Big Data in
psychology.
Applications of Big Data to psychological research questions.
Applications of natural language processing to psychological constructs and topics.
Comparison or combining traditional data sources with Big Data (e.g., sensor data, spatial data, textual data).
Implications of Big Data for research infrastructures in psychology and related areas.

In presence teaching in the psychology B.Sc. or M.Sc. program with a reduced teaching load compared to regular
junior professorships.
Interdisciplinary focus (by means of cooperations and abilities to explore methodological approaches in other fields).


Your profile:

particular to hold a B.Sc. or M.Sc. and a Ph.
D. in Psychology or related field and be qualified for teaching in
psychology (proven e.g., by positive teaching evaluations or didactical training).


In addition, your profile comprises:
A PhD and a research profile with a strong focus on research methods.
Proven expertise in Big Data methodologies (e.g., for analyzing large text corpora, intensive longitudinal data,
sensor data, or social media)
Interest in using the data bases available at ZPID for your research.
International publications.
Adherence to the principles of open science.
Distinct communication, presentation, and team leadership skills.
Proactive, results-oriented, and independent working style.
Willingness to move to the region of Trier (Germany).

In line with 54, 55 HochSchG this position will be filled for six years.
Contingent to successful evaluations (usually after 3 and 5 years) a tenured professorship (W2 equivalent) will
