Principal Data Scientist (M/F/d)


For our global team we are looking for a Principal Data Scientist to strengthen the Digital Transformation & IT - Pharma organization.


YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead initiatives in Natural Language Processing (NLP), being a technical reference for the team and the organization
  • Steer the ideation and development of innovative AI and data solutions as part of digital products that solve business problems in the areas of Medical Affairs, Pharmacovigilance and Research & Development, establishing strong links with stakeholders in the business, understanding their pain points, and helping shape and execute the digital agenda strategy
  • Design and implement complex NLP algorithms to extract value from large amounts of unlabeled text data (clinical notes, regulatory documents, medical literature), building and taking responsibility for endtoend products from the notebook to productionready code
  • Research and develop survival models using data from clinical trials, electronic health records and other real world data sources, to understand health risks and enable innovative communication and decisionsupport products in clinical practice
  • Drive collaboration among data scientists, machine learning engineers, a
    large IT organization and business domain experts in multidisciplinary projects using agile methodologies
  • Publish innovative methodologies and scientific discoveries in peer reviewed journals
  • Search and explore external opportunities with academia, startups and established solution vendors

WHO YOU ARE

  • PhD in machine learning, statistics, applied mathematics, computer science or related fields with a strong knowledge of machine learning
  • Several years industry experience (preferably pharma) or very strong academic records leading the delivery of groundbreaking machine learning projects
  • A teamplayer that loves to collaborate, influence, and learn from a diverse group of people, and enjoys working with a culture of respect and support to others
  • Expert level knowledge in machine learning with a strong focus in NLP and/or health risk models, in particular using large language models and finetuning them for downstream tasks
  • Very good coding skills in Python and sizeable experience with building, deploying and maintaining ETL and ML pipelines using cloud services (AWS, Azure etc.)
  • Excellent in explaining difficult concepts in simple terms, adapting the level of complexity to the audience. You have a strong track of success presenting solutions to the business
  • You are somebody passionate about using statistical and mathematical tools to make the world a better and more efficient place. You are interested in joining a motivated and energetic team of data scientists working across topics from the automated extraction of insights in regulatory documents to risk models for oncology patients
  • Fluent in English both written and spoken
