The Head of Compliance and MLRO, Frankfurt Branch is critical to making this happen and will act as the Money Laundering Reporting Officer/'Central Unit' as well as Compliance Officer according to German MaRisk for ANZ's Frankfurt Branch.

This role will be responsible for leading the proactive management of compliance across the ANZ Frankfurt business to ensure that ANZ's internal and external compliance obligations (including Anti-money laundering / Economic Trade Sanctions) are being met.

The key responsibilities of this role will include, but not limited to;

Provide oversight and management of compliance and financial crime risk within expressed risk tolerances aligned to strategic, business and financial objectives.


Assist the management of compliance and financial crime risks by performing relevant risk assessments and reviews, and report and track the remediation of any findings.


Provide input into the compliance and financial crime risk profile for the Frankfurt Branch and report on key risk indicators and monitoring results.

Support the General Managers to correct compliance gaps and internal controls and assist in the implementation of regulator remediation activities or other reviews (i.e. Audit).

Advise on local regulatory requirements and support the identification and implementation of regulatory change.


Develop and manage local compliance and financial crime frameworks and procedures in compliance with local regulatory and ANZ internal expectations.

Lead by example by displaying and encouraging behaviours essential to the delivery of a strong risk culture.

'What will you bring?'

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
Strong knowledge of the German and European regulatory and legal frameworks

Compliance and Financial Crime Experience in practise

Analytical skills coupled with problem solving capability

Financial Crime qualification, ideally legal background

Strong ability to make risk-based decisions and setting priorities

Strong communication skills and proven ability to work within an offshore office as part of an International Bank

Strong English and German language skills is essential, both written and verbal (This role will interact with German speaking regulators and review documents written in German. Additionally, it will also interact with internal English speaking stakeholders and counterparts across various locations)
