Who You'll Work With:

You will be based in our Dusseldorf office as a member of our Electrical Power & Natural Gas team that sits in the Global Energy and Materials practice.
You will be "affiliated" with the Commodity and Energy Trading service line and you will work alongside various partners and senior partners primarily across Europe who develop and maintain relationships to top executives. For the projects you will run, you will build and grow your own team (consultants, project managers, experts) that fits best to serve our clients from the European/global talent pool.

What You'll Do:

You will play an active role in scaling up and broadening our consultant services around the topic of trading and risk management, a key priority for McKinsey where you will lead projects related to trading and risk for energy clients (e.g., leading European utilities and renewable developers, oil & gas majors).
In this role, you will build and maintain relationships with executives (e.g., heads of trading and energy management units) and develop opportunities for new projects with our existing and new clients around trading and risk management alongside partners and senior partners. You will actively support the buildup of the McKinsey capabilities around commodity trading and risk management (e.g., publish articles, develop internal talent, be involved in developing analytics/benchmark capabilities) whilst also supporting McKinsey teams and clients on strategy projects with indepth expertise on the topic of trading, commodity and energy markets and risk management.

Qualifications:

Advanced degree preferably master's in business administration
15+ years of prior combined experience in handson trading and leading departments of electric power, natural gas, oil and bulk companies with a focus across front, middle and backoffice or alternatively specific experience in risk/liquidity experience associated with trading; prior experience in consulting is a plus
Proven track record of developing new client relationships, driving organizational change and working with company senior leadership teams
Experience leading crossfunctional teams, and indepth of knowledge/defined involvement in helping frame, design and execute solutions for challenging business situations
Teamorientation and collaborative approach; outstanding listening skills and the ability to manage through influence
Proven thought leadership within your industry space including production, syndication/publication of "marketable" knowledge
Exceptional intellectual and analytical curiosity; creative visionary who can manage innovation
Sophisticated executive demeanor; comfortable functioning at the highest levels of client organizations
Seasoned leader/director with strong entrepreneurial drive who thrives on intellectual challenge and "raises the bar" in terms of client service delivery
Excellent presentation skills including strong verbal and writing capabilities
