Who we are looking for


The SVP, Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) SSBI is the Head of Compliance for State Street Bank International (SSBI) in Germany and its eight European Branches.


As SSBI's Head of Compliance, the role is accountable for overseeing the Compliance program of the bank, which includes the minimum requirements for Compliance (MaComp) and Risk (MaRisk) while also safeguarding client assets in accordance with the requirements of MaDepot.


The CCO SSBI is responsible for driving the Compliance and AML program of the bank while contributing to the global program by ensuring that the European view is included.


The role reports to the CEO of SSBI and is part of the wider Leadership Team of SSBI and the position also reports to the global Chief Compliance Officer of State Street and is part of the Global Compliance Leadership Team.

What you will be responsible for:

  • Function as the trusted advisor and expert to SSBI's Senior Management
  • Actively participate in the Bank's Board and Supervisory Board meetings as well as in all relevant Bank's committees to oversee and manage risks
  • Actively contribute to the Global Compliance program by attending the Compliance Leadership Team meeting and relevant Initiatives
  • Provide advice and challenge to the first line of defense in their creation, maintenance and development of effective systems, controls, policies, procedures and training in order that SSBI complies with regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Oversee the design and execution of the Compliance Risk Assessment which shall provide a holistic view of the Compliance Risks of the Bank and drive the Monitoring & Testing Plan
  • Oversee the implementation and execution of the Monitoring & Testing plan and report critical themes as an outcome of those activities to the Management and Supervisory Board
  • Ensure that new, or amended regulatory obligations, industry guidance and best practice, Regulator's opinions and any other important information are appropriately assessed and reflected in procedures and controls and are brought to the attention of the Management and Supervisory Board
  • Provide governance and oversight of the execution of the Compliance program in all Branches of the Bank
  • Built and maintain a trusted relationship with the relevant Regulators, in particular with the ECB. Manage remediation activities as well as oversee all communications with Regulators
  • Prepare and present required compliance program reports/reviews to Executive Management, Executive Management Board of SSBI, the ECB and as applicable other Global Regulators.
  • Oversee the AML Officer of the Bank helping to drive the AML program of the Bank
  • Chair the Bank's Business Conduct Risk Committee and the Bank's regulatory forum
  • Ensure that all relevant Compliance activities and risks are reported appropriately
  • Manage a team of professionals who provide advice, guidance and support to SSBI Business Units on applicable Regulatory Obligations, as well as oversee and monitor adherence to Regulatory Obligations
  • Monitor and test policies and procedures to ensure they are appropriately designed to drive compliance with ECB/SSBI regulatory obligations, complete a compliance risk assessment to support the design of program activities
  • Recommend the initiation of investigative procedures in response to alleged violations of rules, regulations, policies, and related procedures.
