Research Associate for the Project "How mycorrhizal types and tree diversity drive soil carbon stabilization" (PhD student) - 28 Subsection 3 HmbHG

Responsibilities:
Duties include academic services in the project named above. Research associates may also pursue independent research and further academic qualifications. They may also pursue doctoral studies outside of working duties.

Specific Duties
- investigate dynamics of belowground C inputs of arbuscular and ectomycorrhizal trees
- examine fine root and hyphal turnover by mini-rhizotron imaging and hyphal ingrowth bags
- collect root exudates and analyse by TOC analyses and mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS)
- write and publish scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals
- present results at national and international conferences


Requirements:

A university degree in a relevant field.

A university degree in a relevant field, i.e., Biology, Geosciences, or Environmental Sciences. Strong skills in root physiology, mycorrhizal or rhizosphere ecology, and/or biogeochemistry are a plus. Experience in mini-rhizotron imaging and/or mass spectrometry are beneficial. This Ph.
D.

position is part of a cooperative project on soil C stabilization processes in the MyDiv experiment and is co-supervised by Prof.

Johanna Pausch (University of Bayreuth). Therefore, team-orientation and interest in conducting interdiciplinary research as well as being proactive are a must. Willingness for field work in the MyDiv experiment in Bad Lauchstädt, Saxony-Anhalt. Excellent German and English communication skills (spoken and written).
