Wachendorf), offers the following vacant position to be filled as soon as possible:

Research Assistant (M/F/d), EG 13 TV-H, temporary, part-time (currently 20 hours per week)

Part-time position with half the working hours of a full-time employee. This is a fixed term-position of one year.

  • Tasks:
  • Data Collection: Gather insitu data to enrich our understanding of field margin vegetation.
  • Remote Sensing Data Analysis: Analyze satellite imagery to extract valuable insights into vegetation dynamics.
  • Vegetation Mapping: Utilize advanced techniques for mapping field margin vegetation (FMV), including hedges.
  • Project Collaboration: Collaborate with international partners in Germany and India to achieve project goals.

Requirements:


  • Completed course of academic study (Master's degree) in a relevant field (e.g., Geomatics, Remote Sensing, GIS, Ecology, and Environmental Science). The required degree must be available by the recruitment date at the latest. The degree required for this position must have been obtained by the starting date at the latest.
  • Proven experience in fieldwork and data collection techniques.
  • Proficiency in remote sensing and GIS data analyze with R/Python.
  • Ability to develop machine/deep learning models, particularly for analyzing remote sensing data.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to facilitate effective collaboration with international partners.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to producing highquality, scientifically rigorous results.
  • Outstanding knowledge of the English language is required.

Advantageous Qualifications (Preferred, but not Required):

  • Experience in bulk geospatial data analyze with cloud-based platforms (e.g., Google Earth Engine).
  • Having a history of scientific publications related to relevant research areas.
  • Internet and mediabased presentation skills.
