Geography offers the following position:
Doctoral Researcher (M/F/x)

Starting date:
August 2024, limited to 3 years, 75 per cent of full-time employment.

The salary conforms to the regulations of pay group 13 TV-L depending on the nature of the assigned tasks


Tasks:


  • Main focus is on Thermal Processes in Groundwater and to investigate the potential of nearsurface aquifers
for geothermal use on different scales because temperature of groundwater bodies is an indicator of climate

change, geothermal potential and ecological quality.

  • Characterization of the influence of climate change on the spatial and temporal development of groundwater
temperatures

  • Assessment of dynamic geothermal potentials of nearsurface aquifers
  • Carrying out field measurements and numerical modeling
  • Cosupervision of students and participation in teaching (2 semester hours per week)
  • Publication of highquality scientific results

Requirements:


  • Master's degree, diploma or equivalent in the natural or engineering sciences (e.g. geosciences,
environmental sciences, geophysics, physics)

  • Strong interest in interdisciplinary, quantitative environmental research
  • Knowledge of hydrogeology or geothermal energy
  • Experience with thermal processes or thermodynamics is an advantage
  • Programming knowledge (e.g. in Python or Matlab)
  • Ability to work in a team, motivation, creativity, high level of commitment
  • Fluent written and spoken English skills. Knowledge of German is an advantage
with equivalent qualifications. Women are particularly encouraged to apply. Applicants with a degree that was
