Job Description:

As a technical writer you are part of the Brainlab Technical Writing team within the Usability & Design department.

You are responsible for developing and maintaining the written instructions for use and other related documentation that are supplied to customers together with Brainlab products in English.

Additionally, you will work on projects to improve technical documentation processes and work to enrich the customer experience.


In this position, you will:

  • Independently write assigned user guides and related documentation
  • Ensure that user guides have a clear structure and consistent concept, keeping in mind the need to localize and reuse content
  • Acquire indepth knowledge of Brainlab products
  • Maximize communication and cooperation with relevant R&D and Quality Management teams
  • Create and process images and screenshots
  • Upload content to our user guide website
  • Tackle administrative projects
  • Contribute to and maintain the internal wikis for our tools and procedures

Qualifications:


  • Required skills:
  • Native English speaker or equivalent
  • Outstanding writing skills and a passion for writing technical documentation
  • Experience in technical documentation development
  • Knowledge of authoring tools and singlesource publishing to multiple outputs
  • Excellent technical understanding
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent social, teamwork and selfmanagement skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Preferred skills:
  • Experience authoring in an XMLbased CMS and/or structured FrameMaker
  • Experience editing images in Inkscape or Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Experience or interest in XML, HTML5 or programming languages
  • Background knowledge in medical technology
  • Nice to have
  • Knowledge in physics and/or radiation therapy
  • Experience managing website content
