The German Advisory Council on Global Change (WBGU) is an independent panel that provides scientific policy advice to the German government on issues of global change.

The Advisory Council regularly provides expert reports and other products that convey a scientific basis, assessments, indications of research deficits and political recommendations in the area of international environmental and development policy.

The Advisory Council has an office in Berlin, which is managed by the Alfred Wegener Institute Helmholtz Center for Polar and Marine Research (AWI).

The office supports the work of the Advisory Council with scientific expertise and -logistic. It is the contact for politics, the public and the press.
