As a Functional Safety Lead, you will be responsible for the design and development of strategies, concepts and implementation of functionally safe solutions with a heavy focus on software written in modern C++.

Key responsibilities & duties

Responsible for the functional safety strategy for our robotics and software products

• Based on the market and customer requirements define the roadmap of the safety strategy for the company
• Lead, develop and mentor a cutting edge team of SW engineers to implement state of the art safety solutions
• Represent the company in various safety conferences as well as to the necessary standardization bodies
• Establish processes and solutions to frequently use open source software libraries as a safety element out of context or perform SOUP
• Take over the communication with external suppliers and elaboration of specifications

Work experience & skills

Proven experience (5+) driving safety and certification in an organization dealing with Medical Robotics/Human robot collaboration/Autonomous driving/Rail or Aerospace

• Sound knowledge of the safety standards (e.g. IEC 62304, IEC 61508, ISO 26262, IEC60601, SEooC or similar)
• Solid experience in SW development in C++ and ability to contribute with writing code
• Proven experience in successfully leading/involved in project/s that actually passed certifications mentioned above
• Proven experience in Functional Safety Over EtherCAT
• Experience in Agile development
• Knowledge in robotics and ROS
• Some experience in the medical device industry

Academic qualifications

Bachelor/Master/PH.D. (or comparable practical experience) in medical engineering, Computer Science, electrical engineering, or related fields


Salary: 75,000.00€ - 100,000.00€ per year
