In our secondary school about 415 students are learning and preparing for the Cambridge IGCSE and IBDP final exams.

Our excellent academic results benchmarked against the International Schools' Assessment and the IGCSE and IB Diploma international examinations, are proof of the quality education we provide at Leipzig International School.

The school is fully accredited by the Council of International Schools as well as the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.


Your tasks and responsibilities:

We are looking for a

Secondary School Teacher hours/week) as soon as possible, time-limited contract of employment until 31 July 2025, to join the

Secondary School Visual Arts department to teach Visual Arts.

  • Follow, periodically review, and collaboratively revise visual arts department curriculum plans
  • Collaboratively plan and deliver relevant, current and challenging lessons that will allow students to see how visual arts practice and appreciation will help them become citizens of the world who can make a difference
  • Plan, assign and assess tasks for your classes in parallel with other department members
  • Provide fast, formative feedback through which your students can improve their understanding and develop their higher order thinking skills through the topics you are teaching them and be transparent with parents
  • Keep up to date and informative records of lesson plans, schemes of work, assessments, endeavor, attendance, and narrative reports
  • Keep a wellmanaged and safe shared visual arts classroom
  • Contribute to the work of the Art department and the Secondary School as a whole
  • Engage in the life of the International School in this exciting city

Your profile:


  • A degree in Visual Arts or related discipline
  • A teaching certification or qualification
  • Having confidence in your own drawing skills and being experienced in the process of art making from developmental planning to exhibition.
  • Having experience with traditional 2D and printmaking techniques, simple 3D processes, basic lens based and digital technology
  • Teaching experience in a group setting with children of secondary school aged
  • Experience of working in an internationallyminded and diverse school community
  • Being fluent in English (the language of instruction of Visual Arts)
  • Committed to developing a clear and challenging programme for our students
  • Able to work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver the programme
  • Confident in demonstrating visual arts making techniques and processes
  • Positive, encouraging and able to motivate students of various abilities
  • Focused on children's learning and development
  • Flexible, open to change, and solutionoriented
  • Patient, kind and prepared to accept that you may not be right
  • Wellorganised, ethical and rich in empathy
  • Consistent, persistent and has good classroom management skills
