Job Summary:


As the Regional Category Buyer Europe, you'll take on a pivotal role in managing crucial and mid-sized procurement categories to ensure supply security and cost-effectiveness on a regional scale.

Your responsibilities will include overseeing centrally managed raw materials, collaborating with category peers across Europe and other global regions, addressing supply issues and product shortages, and resolving inconsistencies in SAP.


You will be a key advocate for your category portfolio within the European framework and will support cross-functional collaboration with regional stakeholders.

Your primary goal is to develop and implement a comprehensive Category Strategy, encompassing a global supply market overview, understanding MBS demand, assessing the supplier base, defining the category strategy, supplier portfolio, cost-saving measures, and an implementation plan.


Based on this strategy, you'll lead negotiations to secure competitive terms and conditions with regional suppliers, aligning intensively with internal stakeholders such as Supply Chain, R&D, Production, and Business Line.


Responsibilities:


In this role, you will:

  • Lead or participate in a Cross-Local Buyers Team.
  • Attend Regional Round Tables to contribute to category strategy.
  • Collaborate with other regions for global supply/demand insights and incorporate these into your strategy.
  • Evaluate and manage suppliers as if they were key accounts.
  • Negotiate regional contracts to ensure supply security and favorable terms.
  • Coordinate and oversee spot buys.
  • Create value and impact for MBS through cost savings, risk reduction, flexibility, competitiveness, process efficiency, and supplier innovation.
  • Report to the Global Head of Direct Materials on category status and achievements.
  • Address and resolve supply issues that cannot be solved at the Country Buyers level.
  • Adjust delivery dates with suppliers and clarify inconsistencies in SAP.

Experience:


Skills & Knowledge Required:


  • Education/Experience: A degree in economics, business administration, or natural sciences, with at least 2 years of procurement experience.
  • Interpersonal and

Intercultural Skills:
Excellent skills in international business environments with a minimum of 2 years' experience.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in procurement techniques, tools like SAP, Excel, and other databases, and fluency in English (including negotiations) and the local language.
  • Competencies &

Behavioral Skills:
Ambitious, energetic self-starter with strong analytical, strategic, communication, interpersonal, and networking skills. Experience in project management is advantageous.
