Scope of workfull-time position suitable for part-time
Responsibilities:

Duties primarily include teaching and research. Research associates may also pursue independent research and further academic qualifications.

Specific Duties

One of the current biggest challenges of our society is the future supply of energy and basic chemicals based on renewable resources.

A sustainable and adaptable availability of energy resources forms the basis for an advanced industrial society of the future.

The Albert research group, in close collaboration with industrial and academic partners, focuses on substituting fossil-based basic chemicals with chemical feedstocks derived from renewable resources.

Responsibilities will include conceptualizing, building, and commissioning high-pressure reaction systems, as well as ensuring the safe operation and supervision of fully continuous miniplants.

This entails conducting relevant safety considerations and providing training and guidance to scientific and non-scientific personnel in the safe handling of complex technical processes.

In the teaching domain, the emphasis will be on supervising and organizing technical laboratory courses, independently conducting exercises, and supervising bachelor and master theses.

Specifically, this will involve managing courses for advanced students in the Master's degree programs in Chemistry at Universität Hamburg and in Process Engineering at TUHH (Technical University of Hamburg).

Current number of teaching hours is 4 hours.

Requirements:

A university degree in a relevant field.

Comprehensive theoretical knowledge and practical experience in the design, construction, and safe operation of (high-pressure) laboratory facilities are required. Knowledge of laboratory automation using tools such as FlexLab, LabView, TwinCAT, or similar is desirable. A deep understanding of reaction engineering and thermodynamic processes and their description would be beneficial. Experience in supervising and training students or leading teams is advantageous. The position also requires a passion for independent scientific work, teamwork, and enthusiasm for guiding and supporting colleagues.
